She was born on the 29th of March, 1985 in Roswell New Mexico. Gerina Michelle Mendoza is her birth name. Gerina Stevenson, the Mexican daughter from Rita Stevenson Stevenson and Alan Stevenson Stevenson, was born in Mexico. She has Mexican heritage and is an American of citizenship. Since she was a child she's always been interested to play sports. Gerina started playing golf at age 15 years old. Gerina attended Goddard High School for her high school education. When she was in high school, she won the New Mexico state golf tournament. A volleyball player, she participated in state championships. The year 2003 was the year she began her studies at the University of Texas. As a senior, she took home the top prize in every competition she played in. While in her university career, she was named Conference USA individual champion player of the year as well as UTEP Female Athlete of the Year.
